Blood And Ice Skyrim

BLOOD ON THE ICE REDUXWHAT DOES THIS MODYou are a true hero, the Dragonborn of legends. So when you first arrive to Windhelm and find out that a serial killer is on the loose. You just don't care. But that makes no sense!Well, not any more. This mod allows the player to start the investigation BEFORE the Butcher strikes again.Be aware though, If you don't act quickly the Butcher will kill again. This mod adds a pair of previous steps to the quest so you can start looking for clues before Susanna the Wicked is killed, and prevent any other murder in the city.

This is a mod I made for myself, because I felt that my character wouldn't let the assassin to make another move after knowing what's happening in Windhelm. So don't expect fancy scenes and twists.

Just a pair of conversations (not voiced, sorry) that lead you to the correct track.INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTSYou NEED to have the installed (or the. Choose your file wisely), or you'll get a CTD. You have been warned. As this quest has unvoiced dialogues, is highly recommendable to install (and, of course).

You can use this mod without it, but the dialogues may appear and disappear in the blink of an eye.INSTALLATIONUse NMM or ModOrganizer, or simply drop the files in the rar in your data folder.UNINSTALLATIONNMM or ModOrganizer does it for you. If you are a manual-user, then just delete BOTI.bsa and BOTI.esp from your data folder.LOAD ORDERShouldn't be a problem where you place this mod in your load order, but pretty high in the list, near the.esm files. If you use Loot, let it do its magic.INCOMPATIBILITIESThe only incompatibilities that I can think about are mods that modify the original Blood on the Ice quests (MS11 and MS11Kicker) or any of their attached scripts or dialogues. Windhelm or NPC enhancements shouldn't be a problem as long as they allow the original quest to run properly.FAQQ- I have installed the mod but I don't see any quest in my log. Is it working?A- It should be. The pre-stages are added as a blind quest. But if you arrive to a certain point (or the first murder is committed), the quest will pop-up. You can check if the quest is active by typing 'sqs MS11' in the console.

If stages 0 and 1 are at 1 after you entered Windhelm for the first time, you are ok.Q- I've entered Windhelm for the first time, but Susanna is already dead! What is happening?A- You have to know that the game has a counter to check how many times you have been in Windhelm.

But there's a trick in this counter. It does not count the times you have actually entered the city itself, but the times you've passed at least near the bridge of Windhelm.

So you may have never been in the city but the game considers that you have, so it's possible that the first murder has been triggered even if you never crossed the gates of Windhelm. It's that way in vanilla Skyrim and not changed in my mod. You can check your status by typing 'help MS11EnteringWindhelmCount' in the console. This is the variable that counts the times entering in Windhelm. It's a vanilla variable, so this should exist even in a saved game without my mod installed.

If it's not 0, then the game considers that you have entered Windhelm before. With a counter below 4 you still may prevent the first crime.Q- Why I need USKP or USLEEP?A- Because the original Blood on the Ice quest is bugged as hell. It has problems everywhere, and some of them can stop the quest from being completed. USKP (and now USLEEP) deals with some of them, mainly those that prevented finishing the quest. Anyway, Blood on the Ice is not perfect even after being patched, so some of you may encounter some flaws in the quest (none should broke the quest.

Some scenes may be triggered not when they where designed to). But those are due to the original quest, and not this mod nor USKP/USLEEP.Q- Can I uninstall this mod after finishing the quest?A- I don't recommend doing it, because I don't know if something unexpected may arise afterwards. I have tried doing it in my tests and all seems to be ok after uninstalling the mod. You can do it, but on your own. BUT NEVER uninstall this mod while you are doing the quest!

It may explode you PC. You have been warned.Q- How can I.?A.

Well, I'm not an expert (by faaar) in scripting, or modding in general, so I am sure I can't answer a lot of questions. But you can try.OPTIONAL FILE: BOTIXtraThe optional file allows purchasing the House of Curiosities after the main quest is complete. You can use this file without USKP/USLEEP and without BOTI Redux. Only needed vanilla Skyrim.

You can have the main quest completed before installing the mod. Just talk to Jorleif and the dialogue must be there. After purchasing the house and what you want inside it (see in the post section for more details), you can uninstall BOTIXtra without any problems.

Before heading out to help the woman, take a look around the house. The upper floor doesn't contain anything interesting so you can skip it.

The shelves and on the ground floor are by far more interesting. On the shelf filled with flyers you should find a strange amulet worth 1000 gold and as you open the wardrobe and head through the false back panel, you should reach a room where the madman performs his mad ceremonies. From the second part of his journal, which can be found on the altar surrounded by bones, you will learn the 'ingredients' of the beast that the necromancer wants to bring to life.

Apparently you are dealing with a very powerful mage. New main objective: Follow up on the clues from HjerimAfter visiting Hjerim, speak with one of the city guards. Each one of them will tell you that regarding the Butcher, you should speak to Viola Giordano - she's behind the flyers that you found in the murderer's house.

If you ask someone about the amulet, you will learn that such items are the specialty of Calixto from the House of Curiosities - he's sure to offer you a good price for it. Before heading to Jorleif to give him a report, pay a visit to Calixto at the House of Curiosities (south-east part of town).

The man will tell you that the amulet does indeed belong to the Jarl's mage. He will also offer to buy it from you for 500 gold.

Won

It's worth to accept his offer - you will learn why later on. New main objective: Talk to JorleifAs you head into the Palace of the Kings, you will need to make a decision. If you tell Jorleif that you have evidence confirming that his mage, Wuunferth, is the Butcher, he will be thrown into jail. However if you return to town after three (or more) days, it will turn out that the series of murders didn't stop, regardless of your suspect being in the dungeons. If that's how you solved this case, you will need to head to the palace dungeons and speak with the unfairly accused. You can also lead the investigation in a whole different way.

If after returning to the Palace of the Kings you won't speak to Jorleif and instead head to Wuunferth (he's in his office on the first floor), you will be able to interrogate him. He will tell you that he's not connected with necromancy in any way and will conclude that the murderer will strike during the next night, in the Stone Quarter. Before heading out of the mage's quarters, steal the Stone of Berenziah from the table - it will come in handy during the Thieves Guild quest No Stone Unturned. If you spoke with the mage rather than with Jorleif, you will save the first one some tortures and in fact save his life. This option is by far the better one.

New main objective: Patrol the streets of the Stone Quarter at nightAfter solving the case of the court mage, be will give you a mission of protecting the city from the Butcher (regardless of whether you threw him to the dungeon or not). Head to the south-west part of the city, to the market place. On your way there you will hear a cry for help. Head there and you will see Calixto murdering a woman. It turns out he's the Butcher responsible for the murders in Windhelm.

He's also the one your sold the amulet to (it was his either way). Having dealt with the Butcher, don't forget to search his body to find the enhanced Necromancer Amulet, now worth even more than before. You will also find keys to Calixto's house and chest (there are some useful items to be found there).

New main objective: Talk to JorleifHaving defeated the psycho tormenting the citizens of Windhelm, you can return to Jorleif and collect your prize. Unfortunately you can't hope for any gold, as there's not much in the castle treasury. You will however be praised and receive the possibility to buy Hjerim - the same in which he crimes were committed. You don't have to worry however, as the room in which the dark ceremonies were conjured will be cleared, so there won't be any bad smells.
