Networking:: Mapped Drives Not Showing Up On Explorer Sep 29, 2015I have several server drives mapped to my Surface Pro 3 tablet, and from time to time they disappear from Windows Explorer and XYplorer (an Explorer replacement). They are still there and mapped, as Net Use shows them mapped properly. But to get them tho show up in either Explorer or XYplorer, I have to physically remap them (right click: Map Network Drive.) and when I do so they already show up with the proper drive connection but won't appear unless I finish the remapping. XYplorer has a tool to reconnect all network drives, but nothing happens there.Similar Messages:Jan 12, 2016Well, not exactly. It all works fine and the NAS drives show up just fine in network link too. Everything is Ethernet connected. But I see anomalies. If I reboot my machine, or even turn it off and switch it back on fairly soon after then I occasionally get a message about one of the drives being unable to connect. So I then go to 'this pc' and see a Red Cross through one of the drives. If I double click it then it either connects instantly or I will get the green bar filling for about 20-30 secs before it connects.

I only have to do it once as after that access is instant every time I go to it. Now this doesn't happen all the time and it never happens if I turn the machine off and start it up after leaving it alone for an extended period. It just seems to be more likely after doing a restart or turning back on within minutes of it last being on.but I do also notice that when I am in outlook and someone sends me a file (such as jpg pic) that I want to save to my NAS drives. I will click the attachment and select ' save as' and navigate to one of the NAS drives and it will not browse its contents straight away, you can kind of see it trying to open up and eventually after a few seconds it suddenly responds. And again it only occurs once, subsequent navigations all react instantly, for example I go into a second attachment to save down. It's hard to explain but I am inclined to think Windows 10 is just plain buggy. It's not as if the networking is a complete fail.

It works but it's just unpredictable. My other Windows 7 machine (which I will never ever let Windows 10 get into it) behaves flawlessly with the NAS drives. They are always live and instantly accessible to it regardless of whether the machine has recently been on or restarted. Feb 4, 2016Installed Win 10 on network client. I have 8 mapped drives from the server and on a regular basis 1 or more of drive are lost.

They come back on their own usually a short time later. This causes major headaches when programs using files on the drives lose the connection while files are in use. Jan 21, 2016When I insert any removable drive (USB, SD cards, etc) the device shows up twice in Explorer.

Once under 'This PC' tree and the other as a device. See attached pic (USB Drive H):I remember hearing about this being the way it's designed to work, but frankly it's a bit silly - I only need to see a single entry for the drive/device.Is there any way to get rid of one of these entries without stuffing up some other Explorer feature? I've looked in Device Manager and they are not showing in there either. How can I tell Win 10 to access my external drives?I thought Win 10 would automatically spot my external drivers the moment I plugged them in? Jan 17, 2016I'm on a Windows 10 Pro PC accessing a linux server with samba etc installed and working well (visible via Homegroup to both Android and Windows 7 pro). From the Win 10 box, if I type the name of the server in Windows File Explorer, then the shares from the server show up without issue.

However, if I go into the Network folder, it does not see the linux servers - even though they are correctly configured for the correct homegroup. My windows 7 machines can see the servers in 'network' as can my android devices.Here's a screenshot.

Note, the red arrows show what displays in Network folder (red arrows). If I click on the Server Name (HunterNAS in this case), the server shares are displayed and it shows up in the Network folder (blue arrows).

Even after making the successful connection, display of another file explorer window Network folder displays no linux server shares. Changing Bios setting between UEFI and Legacy do not make a difference. Nov 21, 2015Yesterday I went from Windows 7 to windows 10 with a clean install.My system based on an ASUS P9x79Pro motherboard has 4 internal disk drives.The first two, a 500GB SSD for the system and a 2TB spinning disk, are connected to Intel SATA 6G ports and are fine.I also have two further 2TB data drives attached to the Marvell SATA 6G ports. It is these that are looking unusual.After installing windows I installed the Marvell driver from the ASUS website for windows 10. However Device manager does not show Marvell under Storage controllersBoth data drives connected to the Marvel controller appear under eject media as removable drives along with something called 'Eject Marvell 91xx config'.One of the data drives (but not the other) appears in File Explorer as a removable drive. I unplugged my internal storage HDD's to isolate the SSD for the install, wiped the SSD, and reinstalled 10.Now it's installed, I've plugged my 2 internal HDD's back in, started up Windows, and neither drives are showing.

Nov 6, 2015After several hours on my pc i open a windows explorer window and this comes up;Now if i open up a new explorer window on top of that this comes up;If you notice the icons are gone, if i close both windows and open a new one it starts over from the top.Other issue is if i click on properties on files like images no property window comes up, i bet there is more but this just happen an hour ago.

I am not using Homegroups.just the old method of work groups, which used to work pretty well.

(I also have some XP computers.) The computer on wireless can see the C drive on the hard wired computer, but not vice versa. I shows the C drive but when I click on it says it can't be accessed. I have set all the permissions for the C drive on that machine, giving full access to 'everyone'. I went to the Security tab and set the parameters to allow access for authenticated users.

(When it runs through the files it frequently hangs with an error message, but continues when I hit return.) Aug 18, 2015I noticed that when opening Desktop in Windows Explorer, it doesn't show any of the icons of This PC, My Documents, Network and Recycle Bin. I have enabled these icons to be shown on the Desktop through the 'Desktop Icons Settings' option. However, Explorer ignores them and only shows icons that are manually put on the Desktop.

We started with total mess network wise - tried most of the fixes and none really worked. I removed homegroup and started over making sure ALL units were in homegroup and still had problems.

After many tries of fixes etc. I discovered two of the units were in different workgroups??We are finally able to see all computers on all the computers but are left with two network drives which show up as media units but never show up and available in the computer area on all computers. Both show up fine on my desktop but never on any of the other units.Have rebooted, checked settings and what to check now. We have used networking of some sort for years and depend on it - have been without it now for way too long.
